365 Day 20: Afternoon in Paris

Reharm of Afternoon in Paris. Thought I'd try the ebow for the line, for some more sustain; and I also thought I'd try some better comping on it. It sounds really sloppy, but I think it's great.

not to mention I'm really happy with how the new harmony turned out.

very little post production. discovering that the pickups on my electric have a HUGE dynamic range. I can play so soft that it won't pick up, but if I accidentally overpick even a little, I overdrive EVERYTHING. Duncan Designed rail pups, I've heard they're pretty good. Sounds a little bright, probably just because it's a solid ash guitar -- kind of want to drop some money on a semi-hollow.

365 Day 17: Alice in Wonderland reharm

Reharmonization homework. Original harmony is played first, my harmonization second, melody played exactly the same. First time doing a full tune reharm (if christmas carols don't count); it's a little wonky, and the direction is completely different. A lot of the TT subs give more of a "big" sound to the progression (ie, the first two changes) that I need to learn to use more tastefully.

Luckily, I did this drunk the night before, so I have an excuse.
