365 Day 173:

So I've been having a crazy couple of weeks, basically coming home after work completely exhausted and trying to force myself to do something productive. (which is why my posts have been kind of lacking in content lately). Saturday night my house was commandeered into an amazing potluck and jam and I drank a boatload of rye and tried to play with people, which quickly brought me to the realization that I hadn't practiced in like 2 weeks. so today, after crashing a little after work, I practiced for a bit. still a bit more remedial practicing to do, but it's nice to be playing electric again.

I was also looking at fancy new electric basses and considering ordering one in, maybe a Spector. I really like my electric now, Donna Lee and I are really comfortable with each other, but there are a handful of things that a new bass could offer me. ie, DL's upper range is considerably out of tune, there are a couple of places where frets buzz, the low B slot on the bridge needs serious adjusting, and the pots have a few loose connections (only an issue when adjusting volume). But it's high time I picked up a good 4 string. Unfortunately, the basses at the boutique bass store I went to all had nickel strings on them, and I'm a fan of the crunchier sound my steel rotosounds give me, so I'll have to keep my proverbial ear open.

whew. that was therapeutic.
